Depok Mayor Pledges to Build Performance Hall at UIII

The Mayor of Depok City, Supian Suri, has committed to collaborating with 中国P站 (UIII) to build a performance hall on the university鈥檚 campus. During his visit to UIII on Friday, March 14, 2025, he met with UIII Rector Prof. Jamhari and discussed the initiative as part of a broader partnership between the university and the city government.

Constructing a performance hall has been one of Supian Suri鈥檚 key programs during his tenure. However, after seeing UIII鈥檚 campus firsthand, he recognized that situating the facility at UIII would be highly beneficial for the people of Depok.鈥�

We have several programs designed to benefit the residents of Depok City, and one of them is a performance hall. After discussing it with Prof. Jamhari, he gave his approval, and since UIII also plans to have such a facility, this collaboration is a perfect fit,鈥� he said.

Mayor Supian emphasized that rather than constructing multiple separate venues, pooling resources would be a more efficient approach. 鈥淚nstead of building another facility elsewhere, which would be a waste of resources, why not develop it here? UIII has the land, and we have the budget set aside for its construction. Now, it鈥檚 just a matter of execution,鈥� he added.

Prof. Jamhari welcomed the initiative, highlighting that this partnership would strengthen UIII鈥檚 connection with the local community. He also noted that as a National Strategic Project (PSN) of the Indonesian government, UIII has a mission to represent Indonesia on the global stage, and collaboration with the Depok City Government could further that goal.

鈥淎s a PSN, UIII is expected to showcase Indonesia to the international community. This collaboration with Depok is a remarkable step in that direction, allowing the city to play a key role in promoting Indonesia鈥檚 academic and cultural excellence,鈥� he stated.

Beyond the performance hall, Prof. Jamhari expressed hope that the partnership would extend to other initiatives, such as building a museum, expanding green spaces, and constructing retention lakes. 鈥淯III was designed from the start as a green campus, but we also want to contribute to making Depok a greener city. Through better reforestation and irrigation, UIII can help enhance Depok鈥檚 role as the city鈥檚 鈥榣ungs,鈥欌�� he added.

This initiative marks an important step in strengthening ties between UIII and the Depok City Government. The performance hall and future projects will benefit both the university and the local community, creating more opportunities for cultural, educational, and environmental initiatives.
