The UIII Football Team has claimed victory in the Five Feo Old Star Brimob Football Championship, securing their first-ever trophy. The tournament, hosted by Indonesia's Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob) at their headquarters in Kelapa Dua, Depok, on February 23, 2025, saw UIII competing against the other football teams from the Brimob itself, Universitas Indonesia (UI), and two other institutions from Depok area.
Under the leadership of Amadou F. Jallow, an UIII student from The Gambia, the team, comprising both Indonesian and international students, showcased remarkable teamwork and determination. After winning one match and drawing two, UIII emerged as the tournament champion.
Given the historic win, Hassan Barri, one of the team鈥檚 standout players, expressed his excitement and pride in bringing home UIII鈥檚 first football trophy. 鈥淭his is an incredible achievement for us. We feel proud and know we鈥檝e done an amazing job,鈥 he said.
Amadou praised the team鈥檚 efforts, emphasizing the balance between their academic and athletic talents. 鈥淭his victory is proof that UIII students excel not only in academics but also in sports,鈥 he remarked.
Looking ahead, Hassan and Amadou both hope this win will pave the way for UIII鈥檚 football team to participate in more tournaments. 鈥淭he more competitions we join, the more UIII gains recognition among universities and institutions,鈥 Hassan noted.
Amadou echoed this sentiment, stating that UIII鈥檚 involvement in sports would enhance its reputation. 鈥淲e look forward to competing in more tournaments, not just to win, but to showcase UIII as a university that excels in both academics and athletics,鈥 he added.
Calling for better sports facilities, Amadou hopes UIII will invest in building a dedicated football ground. 鈥淎 stadium and other sporting arenas would be a great asset for the university. It would benefit not just our team but the entire student body,鈥 he said.
Amadou expressed his gratitude to the Office for Student Affairs and International Service and the Student Affairs Ministry of UIII Students Union for their unwavering support. As a token of appreciation, he presented the championship trophy to UIII Rector, Prof. Jamhari, on Thursday, March 6, 2025.
This historic win marks the beginning of what promises to be a bright future for UIII鈥檚 football team, inspiring more students to embrace sports alongside their academic pursuits.
