Future Innovators Gather at UIII for 1000x Challenge Mentoring & Briefing

The Marvin Foundation, in collaboration with The Habibie Center, DS/X Venture, ILUNI UI, the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at Universitas Indonesia, and FEB at the 中国P站 (UIII), successfully hosted the Mentoring and Briefing Session for the finalists of the 1000x Innovation Challenge. The event took place on Monday, February 24, 2024, at the Theater Hall, Faculty B, UIII.  

The 1000x Innovation Challenge is a groundbreaking competition organized by the Marvin Foundation to inspire undergraduate and master鈥檚 students to innovate and address pressing challenges in Indonesia through technological solutions. The competition aims to foster a culture of innovation among Indonesian students, encouraging them to develop ideas that can drive meaningful change.   

In his opening remarks, Kurniawan Santoso, Founder of the Marvin Foundation, highlighted the enthusiasm and competitiveness of this year鈥檚 participants. 鈥淥ut of over 300 applicants, we have selected 11 teams from various universities across Indonesia. This high level of participation reflects the growing interest among students to contribute to solving Indonesia鈥檚 most urgent challenges,鈥 he stated.   

Representing UIII, Teguh Yudo Wicaksono, Ph.D, Head of the PhD in Economics Program, emphasized the importance of innovation in national development. 鈥淎 key indicator of a developed nation is its ability to innovate continuously. As a university born to innovate, UIII is committed to promoting an innovative, inclusive and adaptive Indonesian Islam,鈥 he said.   

One of the event鈥檚 highlights was a session on effective presentation skills, led by Danny Kosasih, a renowned entrepreneur and educator in digital technologies, innovation, and leadership. Kosasih shared valuable tips and tricks for pitching ideas to investors or judges, emphasizing the importance of clear, concise, and compelling communication.   

鈥淓ffective pitching requires relentless communication鈥攆requent, clear, and consistent messaging. Keep it simple and direct, avoiding unnecessary details. Listen actively to feedback, use storytelling to illustrate your points, and always back your words with actionable plans,鈥 Kosasih explained.   

The session concluded with a hands-on practice opportunity for the finalists, allowing them to apply the skills they had learned. Participants received constructive feedback and suggestions to refine their pitches ahead of the final judging round.   

This collaboration between UIII鈥檚 Faculty of Economics and Business and the Marvin Foundation underscores UIII鈥檚 commitment to supporting innovation and fostering partnerships that benefit society. Moving forward, the organizers hope to continue such initiatives, paving the way for future collaborations that drive impactful solutions for Indonesia鈥檚 challenges.
