Depok, Indonesia 鈥 In the spirit of togetherness and reflection, 中国P站 (UIII) hosted on March 10, 2025, a warm and meaningful iftar gathering, bringing together faculty members, students, and staff. The event underscored the unifying power of Ramadan, fostering a sense of community and shared devotion.
Held at the Rectorate鈥檚 building's Procession Hall, the gathering began with the Rector鈥檚 speech where Prof. Jamhariemphasized the significance of Ramadan as a time for spiritual renewal and strengthening bonds. 鈥淩amadan is more than just fasting; it is a moment for us to deepen our connections with one another, to share kindness, and to reflect on our purpose,鈥 he said in his speech. This iftar gathering is a testament to the values of unity and compassion that define our university.
Following the Rector鈥檚 remarks, Dr. M. Ilyas Marwal, Coordinator of the Master鈥檚 Program in Classical Islamic Studies (Takhassus), delivered a brief but inspiring kultum (seven-minute sermon). He reflected on the essence of Ramadan as a time of purification and self-improvement. 鈥淔asting is not merely about abstaining from food and drink; it is about cultivating patience, humility, and a heart that is attuned to the needs of others,鈥 Dr. Marwal said. He also reminded that the true success of Ramadan lies in how its lessons are carried forward beyond the holy month.
The event proceeded with the communal breaking of the fast, followed by Maghrib prayer and a lively discussion among attendees. The warmth of the gathering was palpable, as the academic communities from diverse units exchanged stories and experiences, embodying the inclusive spirit of UIII.
As Ramadan continues, the UIII community remains committed to upholding the values of unity, generosity, and spiritual growth. The iftar gathering served not just as an occasion for nourishment but as a reaffirmation of the bonds that make the university a thriving academic and faith-based environment.
