Depok, Wednesday, 2 October 2024—ÖйúPÕ¾ (UIII) hosted a high-level delegation from Pertamina to explore the company’s plans for a Nusantara Sustainability Hub at Indonesia’s new capital, Ibu Kota Negara (IKN) in Kalimantan.
The Pertamina delegation, which included Mr. Andal Pradipta, Mr. Hana Timoti, and Mr. Yohanes Nugraha from the Directorate of Business Development, was welcomed by UIII’s Rector, Prof. Jamhari, and several senior university figures.
Pertamina, one of Indonesia’s state-owned enterprises (BUMN), is spearheading the creation of a research and innovation hub in Nusantara, focusing on green energy and sustainable development. The project is aligned with Indonesia’s energy transition goals and aims to drive the country toward a low-carbon future by 2050-2060.
During the meeting, Pertamina representatives outlined the vision for the hub, which will cover 2.4 hectares of land, with 60% dedicated to open green spaces. The facility will include state-of-the-art research centers, laboratories, classrooms, and a smart auditorium. It will also serve as a global innovation and technology hub, fostering collaboration across public, private, and academic sectors.
Prof. Jamhari expressed enthusiasm about Pertamina’s vision and discussed possible collaboration opportunities between UIII and Pertamina. He highlighted the university’s focus on environmental sustainability and its growing reputation as a center for excellence in Islamic studies and research.
UIII’s representatives from various academic departments, including Rifqi Muna, PhD, Head of the Academic Senate, and Rizky Wisnoentoro, PhD, Head of the Master of Finance in Sustainable Finance program, as well as UIII lecturer Dr. Hanafi Sofyan Guciano were present at the meeting, contributing to discussions on how UIII could support Pertamina’s goals through research and advocacy. The meeting concluded with optimism on both sides, signaling the potential for further strategic collaboration in the near future.
