This year鈥檚 commencement ceremony at UIII was especially significant as not only it celebrated the achievements of its graduates, but also marked the farewell of Prof. Noorhaidi Hasan, who served as the Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Studies from 2021 to 2024. Prof. Noorhaidi has just started his new position as the Rector of State Islamic University (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga, Yogyakarta.

Following the main commencement ceremony at the Rectorate Building, the Faculty of Islamic Studies hosted a special event titled "Faculty Graduation & Farewell Prof. Noorhaidi" in the theater room of Faculty Building A. Attending the event was the entire academic community of the Faculty of Islamic Studies, along with UIII University Secretary Dr. Chaider S. Bamualim and the families of the graduates.

The event highlighted the heartfelt speech by Eya Benlakhdhar Ep Salah, a graduating student from Tunisia, who had recently become a mother. Speaking on behalf of the graduates, she reflected on the challenges and triumphs of their academic journey. Following her, a representative of the graduates' parents also delivered a speech, expressing the pride and joy as their children had just graduated from UIII.

Prof. Noorhaidi Hasan then took the stage to share his personal journey and experiences as a Dean at UIII. He recounted his first visit to the university, humorously recalling how he arrived at UIII by taking an online taxi through the project gate, which was still messy at the time as it was under construction.

鈥淕iven the condition of the gate, I was feeling a bit apprehensive during that first visit. And, the driver felt it too,鈥 Prof. Noorhaidi jokingly said. However, Prof. Noorhaidi鈥檚 light-hearted anecdote underscored the transformative journey he had undertaken with the faculty, guiding it through significant developments over the past years.

In his farewell speech, Prof. Noorhaidi expressed his hopes for the continued success of UIII and its ongoing collaboration with other institutions, including UIN Sunan Kalijaga. His words resonated deeply with those in attendance, leaving a lasting impression of his leadership and dedication.

The event concluded with a warm round of applause as the faculty and students bid farewell to Prof. Noorhaidi, who had played a pivotal role in shaping the Faculty of Islamic Studies during his tenure. The ceremony was not just a celebration of academic achievement but also a tribute to the bonds formed and the shared experiences that will continue to inspire the UIII community.
