Prof. Dr. Jamhari, MA

Biography

With a profound academic journey, Prof. Jamhari began his educational odyssey at Pesantren Pabelan, Muntilan. His commitment to excellence continued as he earned a Bachelor's degree from IAIN Jakarta in 1990. Further enriching his knowledge, he pursued advanced studies at the Australian National University, attaining both a Master's degree in anthropology in 1996 and a Ph.D. in Anthropology from RSPAS in 2000.

Prof. Jamhari's leadership prowess was evident during his tenure as the Executive Director of PPIM from 2001 to 2006, where he adeptly coordinated research and collaborations with esteemed institutions such as the British Embassy, UNDP, and others. Additionally, his distinguished career includes serving as the Director of Graduate Schools (SPs) from 2019 to 2021, Vice-Rector for Academics from 2006 to 2010, and Vice-Rector for Cooperation from 2010 to 2015 at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.

Acknowledged for his scholarly contributions, Prof. Jamhari has received grants and awards, including the Meigunyah Fellowship at the University of Melbourne in 2014 and Research Grants from Japan ASEAN Integrative Fund (2008-2011) and Japan Science Research Program (2005-2008). His remarkable achievements were further underscored when he was recognized as a Best Australian Alumni Finalist by the Embassy of Australia in Jakarta in 2008.

A prolific author and editor, Prof. Jamhari has significantly contributed to the academic landscape. His publications, such as "Changes from IAIN to UIN: Prospects and Challenges" (UIN Press and Prenada, 2013) and "Suara Salafism Radio Da'wah in Indonesia" (Kencana, 2017), attest to his dedication to advancing knowledge. His works have been featured in reputable journals, including Impact, Islam and Civilizational Renewal Journal, Australian Journal of Asian Law, Asian Social Science, and Studia Islamika.
