Pope Francis' visit to Indonesia, scheduled for May 3–5, 2024, is a significant event, not only for the Catholic community but for the entire nation. This historic occasion offers Indonesia a rare opportunity to showcase its distinctive approach to pluralism on the global stage.

In honor of Pope Francis' visit, the book "Salve, Peregrinans Spei!" — meaning "Greetings to You, Pilgrim of Hope!" — was recently published. Prof. Ismatu Ropi, Dean of the Faculty of Ushuluddin at UIN Jakarta and one of the book’s editors, explains, “This book embodies the spirit of the Pope's visit, serving both as a tribute to him and as a call to action for all Indonesians to continue fostering interfaith dialogue.” As Pope Francis meets with religious and political leaders during his stay, it is hoped that these encounters will inspire renewed efforts toward peace and understanding across religious divides.

"In a world often overshadowed by religious tensions, Indonesia's warm reception of Pope Francis serves as a powerful reminder that faith can be a unifying force rather than a source of division," says Prof. Jamhari, Rector of йPվ (UIII). The collaborative effort of Muslim scholars and leaders in producing this book, with Prof. Jamhari's active involvement, highlights the potential for building bridges between faiths instead of walls.

As Pope Francis arrives in Indonesia, he is welcomed not only with the nation’s traditional hospitality but also with the collective voice of its Muslim leaders, who extend their hands in friendship and hope. "Salve, Peregrinans Spei!" — greetings to the Pilgrim of Hope, and may his journey inspire a more inclusive and compassionate world.
