UIII and LPDP Secure Global Partnerships with Top Universities for Master’s Dual Degree Programs

Jakarta, August 15, 2024 - The Indonesia Agency for Education Endowment Fund (LPDP) has approved a scholarship proposal submitted by ÖйúPÕ¾ (UIII) for Master's dual degree students across various disciplines. The scholarships are set to commence in January 2025, marking a significant milestone in UIII's ongoing internationalization efforts.

The announcement was made following a visit by Prof. Dr. Jamhari, Rector of UIII, and his delegation to the LPDP headquarters, where they were warmly welcomed by Andin Hadiyanto, PhD, Director General of LPDP, Ir. Dwi Larso, PhD, Scholarship Director of LPDP and Emmanuel Agust Hartono, Finance Director of LPDP. The UIII delegation consisted of Rifqi Muna, PhD, UIII's Head of Academic Senate, Dr.Phil. Syafiq Hasyim, Acting Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Amsal Bakhtiar, Acting Vice-Rector for Planning, Finance, and Business Development, Saiful Umam, PhD, Head of Research and Cooperation Unit, and Muammar Kadafi, MA, Head of Academic Administration.

This visit underscores the continuing partnership between UIII and LPDP, aimed at providing educational opportunities to both domestic and international students. "We at LPDP positively embrace the initiative of esteemed institutions like UIII in offering postgraduate programs that have the potential to become flagship programs for Indonesia," stated Andin Hardiono.

Prof. Dr. Jamhari highlighted the importance of this approval, noting that it reflects UIII's commitment to innovation and global collaboration. "Alhamdulillah, after successfully sending 14 Master's degree dual degree students in Islamic Studies to the University of Edinburgh and SOAS University of London this week, we are now opening doors for those with high motivation and dedication to pursue further studies at top universities in Europe and Australia," he said.

UIII’s dual degree collaborations currently include partnerships with the University of Edinburgh (), SOAS University of London (, , , and ), the University of Dundee (), and Deakin University, Australia (). 

Dr.Phil. Syafiq Hasyim, UIII’s Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, expressed gratitude for LPDP's ongoing support. "LPDP has shown that, as a nation, we are capable of realizing the dreams of our youth to attain the highest academic degrees they aspire to," he remarked.

Adding to this view, Rifqi Muna, PhD, UIII's Head of Academic Senate, emphasized the global recognition that UIII is garnering through these partnerships. "This successful partnership gradually shows that UIII, as a university, is globally recognized, and in quality, we are on par with international academic standards set by those top-ranking universities in the world," he said.

This scholarship collaboration has been in place since the early days of UIII's establishment as Indonesia's first internationally oriented public university located in Depok, West Java. The scholarship for the Dual Degree program is only available for Indonesian students. However, UIII also provides a fully-funded scholarship and self-funded scheme for Indonesian and international students to study full-time at UIII.
